Welcome to 2023
It’s January, and a natural time of the year for many to plan and reflect, set new goals and intentions, and perhaps resolve to try something new or do things differently. Here are a few ways you can stretch yourself personally and professionally this month, if that’s your jam.
Strengthen your relationships
According to this recent article in the New York Times, there’s a big connection between our social relationships and our happiness. This short quiz measures how strong your social relationships are, and might motivate you to call that old friend, say hello to a neighbor, or organize that book club.
If you’re looking for a cohort of peers to connect with professionally, I’m launching two groups later this month– one for women who lead in nonprofit organizations, and another for women who are independent consultants. Email me if you want the deets.
Stare down your saboteurs
Most entrepreneurs get the pants scared off of them when someone shares the stats about how many businesses fail in their first few years. Turn that fear into a strength by brainstorming the icebergs that might sink your ship in 2023 and then charting a course to sail beyond them.
If you’re not an entrepreneur, perhaps there are ways you self-sabotage it’s time to address? This assessment uses factor analysis and reveals what may be holding you back from feeling and doing better. Pick one of your saboteurs to keep an eye on and work on in 2023, and let me know your thoughts on Positive Intelligence.
Plan to crush it in 2023
My workshop next week provides the space to set short- and longer-term personal and professional goals while learning new ways to make sure they actually happen.
I’m also offering 5 free seats to BIPOC professionals– so if you know someone who might be interested please forward this email to them and encourage them to drop me a line via my website before end-of-day this Friday, January 6, 2023.
Get centered
I was introduced to the YouTube channel, Yoga With Adrienne in 2022, which has yoga for just about anything that ails you or that you aspire to. She offers a 30 day challenge (daily short yoga practices) that just started on January 1, and I’m all-in on this daily practice.
I’m also a big fan of the Calm app– particularly the 10-minute meditations offered by Jeff Warren in the “Daily Trip” or Jay Shetty in the “Daily Jay”. If you are, too let me know which are your faves.
Not into it? Consider trying 30 days of journaling or walking.
I’m a fan of all of these practices, and many more. Got something you find useful or motivating? Please contact me and tell me about it.
